The Fart Revolver prank app made its first ten days in the android world, so now is time to see how it performed. The performance was very different in the different markets, that’s why I will try to review them separately.

1. Google play:

The app performed here pretty well – much better than Tetricorn. It got more than 180 total installs. The active installs are around 60 – also very high for such an app. I expect these relation (about 30%) to get much worst in the future, but for now it’s good.

2. Android Pit

Performed pretty well here – 165 downloads in 10 days.

3. Apps Lib

Better than Tetricorn – 110 downloads (95 for Tetricorn).

4. Slide me:

This was the biggest surprise. The Fart Revolver made over 500 downloads in the first day! It performed here even better than Moon Racer! Now there are over 1250 total installs (Moon Racer has “only” around 950).

5. Samsung app store

They rejected the app – I thought at first that it’s because they don’t accept such apps, but the problem was fortunately some small bugs. I already fixed the bugs and resubmitted the app, hopefully in the next few days it will be accepted. I will report later on this.

Conclusion:

For the little work i invested in this app the performance is unbelievable. I don’t know why the people are installing (and keep installed) such apps on their phones, but now I see why there are so many crappy apps on the android market. I think that it is totally possible to make a living developing such small apps and I think there are lots of people actually doing it. I am now experimenting with the libgdx framework, so my next app will be a more sophisticated game, but who knows, maybe sometime in the future I will make another small crappy app … 😉
